| Looking at the information on ZoopSeal, it states that heavy acids will remove the finish and when I was westanding, I noted that if I sprayed a bit of the etching cleaner onto them, the remaining clearcoat would come off notably easier. I'm not sure what the spoke section is colored/coated with. I have a couple of small nicks in it and I'm almost inclined to say that it is a laquer basecoat and polyurethane clearcoat. A couple years ago I purchased some paint for the interior computer pieces on my car and I color matched the paint to the silver of the wheels. It was a Dupont "Platinum Silver" color derivitive with a slightly different mix of components. It wouldn't be difficult for any other paint shop to use their color scanner tool and match it. But I'm not positive that it is laquer/polyurethane - it just looks like it based on how it has chipped off in a few places.
